The statutory safety requirements for HV operations as described in the Electricity at Work Regulations, are complex and onerous due to the very dangerous nature of high voltage electricity. Silverstone have electrical safety rules overseen by external consultants that ensure that our large team of Senior Authorised Persons (SAPs) operate at all times in a safe, expedient and knowledgeable manner. With the ability to operate plants, troubleshoot faults and liaise with DNOs, Silverstone HV Operations cover routine inspection and maintenance, fault investigations and first time energisations
Silverstone have a growing number of skilled and experienced Senior Authorised Persons (“SAPs”) who work to our own stringent and industry best practice Electrical Safety Rules, meaning that all HV works are completed in a safe, methodical and professional manner. All works are fully planned, documented, authorised and all of our SAPs can issue Safety Documents (Permits-To-Work, Isolation Certificates, etc) as required by DNOs and sub-contractors to operate safely.
Solar farms are very dangerous places, even more so when a fault has occurred. As a result it is critical that practical, safe systems of work are followed at all times. If the system is not practical then it will be quickly overlooked, and a safe system of work simply does not exist if it cannot be demonstrated in a court of law should the need arise. Silverstone pride themselves upon practical and dynamic systems of work in which everybody is engaged. From site inductions for Shepherds through to HV control engineers, our systems not only deliver safety, but practical and functional benefits. When Silverstone take responsibility for a site you can rest assured that external auditors will find safe systems of work of the highest standards.
